ABLE Fest: Music Festival for Individuals with Disabilities
The Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education offers a music festival for selected participants with disabilities, ages 12 and up. Participants must be currently enrolled in private music lessons at the BIAAE, and playing at an advanced beginner level or higher. Participants are recommended for participation in ABLE Fest by their private teachers.
ABLE Fest includes four workshops and a culminating music festival performance.
The workshops take place in the fall semester and are on the following topics:
- Performance anxiety and managing stage fright/stress;
- Effective practice strategies;
- Performance workshop, where participants receive critical feedback on their performance pieces in progress; and
- Dress rehearsal/run through for festival performance.
The final ABLE Fest performance takes place in December.
