Minor in Psychology

The psychology minor at Berklee enables students to learn about the diverse field of research on human behavior that is scientific and practical. Students have the opportunity to explore key concepts in psychology, including biology, perception, cognition, development, social interactions, and mental health. Students also develop transferable skills to enhance their success as artists and individuals, including scientific reasoning, inquiry, communication, and critical thinking.

Entrance Requirements

Students must take LENG-111 Introduction to College Writing. This minor is managed by the Liberal Arts Department.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of a minor in psychology, students will be able to:

  • identify psychology’s major subfields;
  • use basic psychological concepts to describe or explain behavior;
  • describe examples of relevant and practical applications of psychological principles to everyday life;
  • utilize scientific reasoning to guide inquiry and decision-making;
  • interpret and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of research designs; and
  • demonstrate an understanding of how psychological, biological, and environmental factors influence behavior and mental processes.
