Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.
My favorite experiences at Berklee so far has been participating in Boston Conservatory's Beyond Walls Summer Experience. During this program, we were able to collaborate with other disciplines within the Conservatory to create a site-specific performance for anyone in the city of Boston to enjoy. It was so inspiring to be around all the other talented artists within the Conservatory, and to be able to create alongside them.
When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?
The dance classes at Boston Conservatory have been so fulfilling for me because of how individualized the classes are for each student. All my teachers care about me, and every student and helps us with our own personal needs and goals so we all can succeed.
What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?
Being able to go to school at the heart of a major city allows us to be encapsulated in the art and culture around us. With so many theaters, including the Citizens Bank Opera House, home of the Boston Ballet, we have access to so many live performances right in our own backyard.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee?
My biggest piece of advice is to be your authentic self. Berklee creates unique individuals and wants to know that you have your own unique voice.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite places on campus are the dance studios. I am able to book studio space whenever I need it, and I have some of my favorite memories dancing and creating with friends in the studios.
Why did you choose Berklee?
I chose Berklee because it felt like the perfect fit for me. I have a lot of different interests, including musical theater and business, and Berklee gives me the opportunity to do all of those things.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I plan to dance professionally in New York City doing commercial and contemporary work.
What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you’ve been involved in at Berklee?
I love being able to work with industry professionals and choreographers and be put in one of their pieces for Mainstage performances. It is a great opportunity to make connections with important figures in the dance community, as well as an overall amazing experience to be able to work so closely with them.
Where do you hope to perform this coming year?
I hope to involve myself in more student-run performances on campus, as there are so many opportunities for students to create their own path here.
