Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.
As a drummer, my favorite Berklee experience has definitely been the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other incredibly talented drummers from diverse backgrounds. It's been an eye-opening journey to dissect and appreciate their unique styles of playing.
When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?
My favorite class so far has been Sampling for Electronic Music (EP-351). I find it enjoyable because of its comprehensive exploration of sampling techniques in electronic music, including Breakbeat Sampling and Field Sampling. It's given me valuable insights into the methods employed by electronic music producers to craft the iconic tracks we hear today.
What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?
My favorite part about studying and living in Boston is undoubtedly the city's incredible diversity. Boston is a true melting pot of cultures and ethnicities, which creates a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. As an international student, this aspect is particularly meaningful to me because it provides a sense of belonging and comfort knowing that I'm surrounded by people from all corners of the world. This diversity enriches not only the city but also my overall experience as a student, exposing me to different perspectives, traditions, and ideas.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee?
Just be you! I think most people want to impress the judging panel during auditions and interviews but it's equally important to stay true to yourself. Instead of trying to fit into a specific mold or present what you think they want to see and hear, focus on showcasing your genuine passion, musical style, and personality. Be confident in your unique artistic voice, as it's your authenticity that can truly make you stand out and connect with the panel.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
The games room at 150 Mass Ave! I love playing billiards and also formed a billiards club on campus. Join Berklee Billiards!
Why did you choose Berklee?
I chose Berklee because it's hands-down the best contemporary music school in the world. Berklee's commitment to showcasing diverse musical cultures and styles greatly appealed to me. Plus, the chance to connect with talented musicians from all corners of the globe was a major incentive.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduation, my plan is to hopefully relocate to Los Angeles and pursue a career in the music industry in post production or in the music business Industry. I recently had an internship there and fell in love with the city's vibrant music scene!
What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you’ve been involved in at Berklee?
Just how energetic and passionate crowds gets during performances and being surrounded by such talented musicians!
