On September 13, the Mediterranean Music Institute offered a concert titled "Palabra de Mujer," celebrating the legacy of great Spanish speaking female poets, at the Observatorio of the Spanish Language at Harvard. For five years, MMI students have performed at the Observatorio's annual open house. This year's event celebrated the past and present experiences of Hispanics in the United States, during the 30th annual Hispanic Heritage Month.

Under the direction of Javier Limón, student vocalists including Delfina Cheb Terrab of Argentina, Mar Fayos and Esperanza Delgado of Spain, and Harini Iyer of India gave renditions of poems by authors including Dulce Chacon, Rosario Ferré, Loreina Santos Silva and Rosalia de Castro. They were accompanied on guitar by Berklee alumnus Eduardo Mercuri '14.
