May 20, 2016

Javier Limón, artistic director of Berklee's Mediterranean Music Institute, recorded a four-disc set, Refugio Del Sonido(Opens in a new window), with his students to honor the millions of refugees across the world. The albums will be sold individually over four consecutive Sundays at newsstands throughout Spain that carry El País newspapers, beginning May 22. Sales of the albums will fund Doctors Without Borders(Opens in a new window) and promote cultural initiatives at refugee camps. In this article from El País, five of the students who appear on the albums detail their experiences as refugees having fled war-torn countries in their lives. The entire CD collection features Berklee students representing more than 20 nationalities.
