Private Instruction - Voice: All Levels

Course Number
PIVC-XXX
Description

Private instruction is part of the performance core for all Berklee students. Through private instruction, students develop proficiency on their principal instrument, synthesize and integrate knowledge of contemporary and traditional styles into musical interpretation, and synthesize and integrate knowledge of posture and instrumental technique into their daily practice routines. All Berklee students take private instruction levels one through four on their principal instruments. Performance majors continue on to do levels five through eight.

Through private instruction with the Voice Department at Berklee, students discover their vocal range and develop their own style. Vocalists are encouraged to experiment across genres so they can challenge themselves, improve their skills, and develop their craft. Berklee developes vocalists with a strong musical identity. Students achieve a solid foundation in the standard technical challenges of professional performance, including improvisation, reading, and interpretation. They also receive intensive training in sight-reading and building repertoire while developing an acute awareness of vocal health.
