160-A144 Studio 1: Shames Family Scoring Stage

Studio 1 Live Room

The Shames Family Scoring Stage is the largest recording studio at Berklee. It rivals the facilities used by commercial enterprises such as Lucasfilm and the major Hollywood studios, making it the ideal learning lab to prepare for future work within the music and entertainment industries. With 2,200 square feet to offer, it allows for recording with large ensembles and orchestras of up to approximately 50 musicians.

Students can use the space to record to picture for film, video games, and more. The studio is wired for surround sound and features a Neve 88RS large-scale analog recording console, which offers 60 channels and automation. It also features a Steinway Model D nine-foot grand piano.

This space is used for various classes and events, including music production and engineering student projects, film scoring sessions, collaborative courses, and visiting artist events.
