Full Biography

Kei Slaughter, MFA, MA, MT-BC (they/them) is a vocal psychotherapy-trained music therapist and associate professor of music therapy at Berklee College of Music. An active musician, composer, and cultural worker from New Orleans, Kei is founder of SOULFOLK Sounds, a music and wellness practice centering Black queer and trans people. They are passionate about co-creating culturally responsive community music spaces rooted in African diasporic healing lineages, sonic traditions, creative agency, and collective care. With over a decade of clinical experience in mental health and trauma work, they currently support adults in acute addiction recovery via the Berklee Music and Health Institute while developing LGBTQ+-affirming initiatives in collaboration with local organizations serving BIPOC communities.
