Berklee Continues 75th Anniversary Celebration with Signature Series Concert

Timeless: A Celebration of Berklee’s 75th Anniversary will include virtual performances and a look back at the college’s history.

Berklee College of Music will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a virtual Signature Series concert on Thursday, March 25. Timeless: A Celebration of Berklee’s 75th Anniversary will feature memorable performances by students, faculty, alumni, and other familiar faces from the college’s rich history. The concert will stream live on Berklee’s YouTube channel at 7:30 p.m. ET.

In a format similar to a late-night talk show, the event will be emceed by faculty and alumni hosts Shea Rose B.M. ’11 and Simone Scazzocchio B.M. ’10. George W. Russell Jr., chair of the Harmony Department, will lead a house band that features Tanya Darby, chair of the Brass Department, Yoron Israel, chair of the Percussion Department, Tia Fuller, professor in the Ensemble Department, and faculty bassist Danny Morris. Boston Conservatory at Berklee's Dance and Theater divisions, led by Michelle Chassé, professor of theater, and Kurt Douglas, associate professor of dance, will present a dance-off influenced by various musical genres of the past 75 years.

“This performance will embody the spirit of Berklee for the past 75 years—one of artistry, collaboration, learning, and joy,” said Scazzocchio. “Timeless will be a concert unlike anything Berklee has produced in a virtual format so far; we look forward to sharing this special array of performances with Berklee alumni, faculty, students, and greater members of our community,” added Rose.

A student band featuring artists from Spain, Cuba, and Uruguay will perform “Ojalá Que Llueva Café” by 21-time Latin Grammy winner Juan Luis Guerra ’82 during the event. The performance will also feature an interview with President Roger H. Brown, where he will share some of his most treasured memories and mementos from his time at Berklee.
