The Mentor Network
The Mentor Network program is designed to connect students nearing the end of their time in school to alumni professionals. Our mentors provide their mentees with guidance and support during the post-graduation transition, by expanding social and professional networks, and building community within the program. This program is run in collaboration with the Berklee Career Center.
Program Participant Expectations
Network mentors are Berklee alumni volunteering their time and expertise for the enhancement of career exploration and community building. Network mentors can help to provide career-related insight and feedback on your résumé, as well as guidance about work-life balance, salary and benefits, and aspects of a particular job.
Network mentees are motivated and focused students in their final semesters at Berklee College of Music (Boston campus) and Boston Conservatory at Berklee undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Students can come from any major and must have a graduation date of December 2023, May 2024, or August 2024.
The program runs from June 3, 2024 to September 2, 2024. The expectation is that there will be regular and frequent contact between mentor and mentee, with both aiming for a minimum of two connections per month. Even a quick exchange via email, Zoom, phone call, or text can make a big difference in building a strong and meaningful relationship.
Matching Process
The mentors interested in participating are vetted in advance by members of the Career Center and Alumni Affairs teams. Both mentors and mentees complete a survey detailing their backgrounds, experiences, and hopes for a counterpart. Mentor Collective—an edtech software and service provider that partners with colleges and universities around the country to design and implement large-scale mentorship programs—creates matches based on survey responses, compatibility, and availability.
