Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.
My favorite Berklee experience so far was my semester abroad in Valencia. I was able to focus on songwriting and using the facilities available in Valencia, and I was also able to experience more in terms of recording for myself and others.
When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?
My favorite class so far has been my lyric writing class. Through the class, I learned so much through working with my peers and watching them work. Under the guidance of my professor, I was also able to learn more about songwriting techniques.
What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?
My favorite part about studying in Boston is its atmosphere. Being from New York City, it’s nice to still attend college in such a walkable city. Through exploring the city, I was not only able to have so much fun with my friends, but also get inspired by others who are in Boston.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music/Boston Conservatory at Berklee?
I think that it is important to just be the most authentic version of yourself. It is very difficult to be confident in yourself all the time—especially in the music industry—but it is still important to stay true to yourself and your sound. There is only one you and you will eventually find your own audience even if it takes time.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the area in front of 7 Haviland. I love studying there when the weather is nice outside. It is also a great spot to socialize and hangout with friends in between classes.
Why did you choose Berklee?
I chose Berklee after realizing how much I loved creating music after coming for Five Week. I grew up performing but I never really created anything original until my early teens. Once I realized how passionate I was, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
What are your plans for after graduation?
After graduating, I plan on working on more original music and collaborating with more people. I would also like to further my education in music production.
What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you've been involved in at Berklee?
I love how the live shows at Berklee provide opportunities for us to share our own music with our peers. I have participated in a few open mics and shared my original music with an audience that is not just my friends. These shows have provided me a safe space to share my craft and songs I hold close to my heart and I am very grateful for that.
Where do you hope to perform this coming year?
I hope to perform an original set at the Red Room this year as well as the Loft. Having attended a few of my friend’s shows, I feel like these spaces are intimate enough for me to share my originals for the first time as well as connect to my audience.
