Describe your favorite Berklee experience so far.

During my 6th semester, I went on the Screen Scoring Industry Trip to Los Angeles, and it changed my life in a lot of ways. I got to visit the Newman Scoring Stage and learn from legendary composers like Harry Gregson-Williams, James Newton Howard, and Pinar Toprak. I left feeling so inspired because it was my first time experiencing the film scoring industry firsthand. Definitely a trip I will never forget!

When you think about your favorite class so far, what is one example of why you enjoyed it?

My favorite class so far has been FILM-340: Dramatic Orchestration for Film. I had a lot of fun watching movie scenes in class while dissecting my favorite film scores and classical pieces. Having grown up playing in orchestras, it was super cool to see all the creativity behind orchestration and learn how to effectively write for each instrument.

What is your favorite part about studying and living in Boston?

Boston is such a vibrant and walkable city with so much history and diverse cultures. After class, I love going for walks to enjoy the beautiful greenery or try out new food spots. The overall energy in Boston makes me feel so free and inspired to make music.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone applying to Berklee College of Music/Boston Conservatory at Berklee?

I would say to just be unapologetically yourself because people are always looking for real passion and authenticity. You don't need to have everything figured out as long as you know what you love to do. If you're putting in your best effort, taking advantage of Berklee's resources, and staying open to new experiences, you're on the right track.

Where is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite places on campus are the production suites and studios (especially at night). The equipment is industry-standard, and I always feel super productive working in them. It's such a fun environment to collaborate with peers, and having access to facilities like this is a unique opportunity you don't easily get outside of Berklee.

Why did you choose Berklee?

I chose Berklee because the Screen Scoring program is super specialized and puts a real focus on technology and production, which a lot of other programs lack. The school also offers incredible opportunities and connections that are so valuable in the music industry. By the time I graduate, I know I'll feel prepared for a variety of industry roles due to the diverse skill set Berklee teaches.

What are your plans for after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to move to LA to continue my career as a freelance film and game composer. Ultimately, my dream is to compose for video game cinematics and anime. Alongside scoring, I am a releasing artist and music content creator, so I’m really excited to keep collaborating with fellow creatives and make a ton of music!

What have you enjoyed most about the live shows you've been involved in at Berklee?

I'm mostly involved with the video crew at Berklee, so I film a lot of student recitals, which is super fun. It rarely feels like work because I get to enjoy so many different genres that I wouldn't normally listen to, which has really broadened my musical taste. I don't perform on stage often, but whenever I do, I love that freeing feeling of getting to express myself.

Where do you hope to perform this coming year?

I plan to host my first show either on campus at Berklee or at an art venue in Boston, performing my original instrumental pieces with a small ensemble to create an audiovisual cinematic experience. After I graduate, I'm hoping to go on a mini tour across the US and Canada, so I'm super excited for what's ahead!
