Biography

A board-certified music therapist, Ian Wilkerson '07 is the founder of Bay Area Music Therapy, an organization offering individualized music therapy programs and wellness services with several studios throughout the San Francisco Bay area, where he grew up.

Wilkerson graduated from Berklee with honors in 2007, receiving a bachelor of music degree with double majors in music therapy and songwriting.  During his time at Berklee, he sat as president of the board for the New England Region Music Therapy Association for Students, and worked as a therapist while completing five practica and a clincial internship at the Community Music Center of Boston.

A person-centered therapy provider, Wilkerson specializes in supporting self-expression, creativity, and self-empowerment, and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and also certified as a neurologic music therapist. In addition, he is a singer-songwriter and guitar player, recording and performing original compositions, found on ianfranklinmusic.com. Ian has toured the country with Infinite Frequency and is now devoted to promoting wellness through music therapy in the corporate and community settings.
