Based on the verse novel by Alexander Pushkin, Eugene Onegin tells of a sophisticated and jaded young aristocrat who breaks the heart of Tatyana. Years later, Onegin attempts to rekindle the flame that he had extinguished years earlier, but Tatyana refuses to betray her husband, even though her heart is broken.
The opera is sung in Russian with English supertitles, with music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and libretto by Tchaikovsky with Konstantin Shilovsky. It is conducted by Andrew Altenbach and directed by Nathan Troup.
