Berklee Valencia Programs Begin

In April, Berklee's much-anticipated educational programs at the new Valencia, Spain, campus officially launched. The Mediterranean Music Institute kicked off the effort with Berklee faculty members as well as visiting artists teaching classes exploring the fusion of global music prevalent throughout the Mediterranean rim.

In the summer, the Valencia campus will offer short-term programs in vocal performance and songwriting. By the spring of 2012, the first undergraduate students from the Boston campus will arrive. The coursework is expected to include subjects such as international management and legal aspects of the European music industry.

The International Career Center will also offer focused studies in international leadership and high-value internships in the international music industry as well as networking opportunities related to Berklee Valencia's signature areas of study.

By the summer of 2012, short-term summer programs will again be offered with an emphasis on songwriting, flamenco, music production, film scoring, and performance. By the fall of 2012, the curriculum will feature graduate-level classes in composition and production for contemporary media, the global music business, performance, film, TV, and video-game scoring, and symphonic band studies.
