Marciana J. Ramos

Marciana Ramos is an assistant professor in the Liberal Arts Department at Berklee College of Music. She teaches courses with content rooted in psychology, including General Psychology, Human Sexuality, and the LENS First Semester Experience: Engaging with Contemporary Issues. 

Ramos earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of North Texas and completed a pre-doctoral internship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. Her clinical work has primarily focused on training, administration, and providing individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy. 

Ramos’s research is in positive psychology, looking to identify and better understand that which helps people to thrive. Specific research topics have included romantic relationship satisfaction, sexual behavior, religiosity, forgiveness, and clinical supervision/training. In the classroom, she endeavors to engage students in course material by incorporating technology, interactive class activities, and integration and application of topics inside and outside of class. As she tackles new theories, research, and understandings of people, students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, and recognize examples as they naturally occur all around them.
