Berk Recital Hall

The Lawrence and Alma Berk Recital Hall is located on the ground floor at the 1140 Boylston Street building. It was named in honor of Berklee's founder, Lawrence Berk, and his wife, Alma. The venue hosts hundreds of events each year, including faculty concerts, senior concerts, and visiting artist clinics and master classes. Events are free and open to the public, giving the Boston community an opportunity to hear the rich and diverse talent that resides on campus.

The collaboration between Sedef Erçetin and Tahir Aydoğdu, which blends the cello and kanun, represents a rare effort to unify Turkish classical music with Western classical traditions. In this master class, the kanun—traditionally the centerpiece of Turkish classical and folk music—transcends its roots to perform an extraordinary repertoire alongside the cello.
