The Olson Pingrey Quartet (AKA the OPQ) is led by the husband/wife team of trombonist Randy Pingrey and baritone saxophonist Kathy Olson.

Alejandro Santos '90, flutist, arranger, and composer from Argentina, will present his works for flute ensemble and rhythmic section based on the rhythms of South America such as zamba, malambo, tango, candombe, bossa nova fused with modern jazz. He has worked with the most prominent musicians in his country and was part of Al Di Meola's group, recording on his album Flesh on Flesh.
 

A special night of acoustic driven inspirational folk-jazz led by Assistant Voice Professor Julie Kinscheck, AKA “Queen of scat.” Vibrant vocals, happening harmonies, a slice of swing, a kick of country, unconventional scat solos, and a hallelujah! 

Renato Rocha will perform Brazilian repertoire by Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, Chico Pinheiro, Rafael Rocha, and Bernardo Ramos recorded with the groups Brasilidade Geral and Orizzonti.

A look at the electric bass in contemporary Argentine folk music (rhythms of indigenous and African-American peoples of South America, etc.)

Writer, broadcaster, historian, and educator Willard Jenkins will join the Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice for a special Q&A. 

Sergio Bellotti, drumset faculty at Berklee College of Music, has teamed up with Italian resident Loris Lombardo, percussionist for Italian star Anna Oxa, world master handpan player, and author. The PANoDRUMa duo, after a few performances in Europe, will premiere in the US with a few workshops and performances in the Northeast, showcasing their unique blend of drums, vocals, and hand pan/ethnic percussion in a brand new show of "dreamlike sounds and melodic rhythms."
