Center for Music Therapy Logo

The Center for Music Therapy partners with community organizations to address identified health inequities through the utilization of inclusive and equitable music based experiences to support health and wellness. Focused around education, advocacy, program development, and implementation, the center’s goal is to be a global leader of evidence-based music experiences designed to impact the overall physical, social, and emotional health of children, adolescents, and adults in our collective communities. This includes elevating the use of music-based experiences within communities to foster expression, support healing, strengthen connections, enhance capacity, and improve overall quality of life.

Values

  • We acknowledge the impact of collective and generational trauma caused by social inequities and believe that all people should have access to quality programming centering music and the arts in healthcare.
  • We believe that music is an existing asset within communities of color and other historically marginalized communities and in the need to elevate and amplify their voices through this healing relationship.
  • We believe that music is an essential asset in social determinants of health.
  • We are grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion and aim to elevate the role of music in community health and wellness specifically for communities who have been historically and intentionally excluded in receiving high quality healthcare services.
