The Liberal Arts and Sciences Department Presents Colors of the Music of Veena, a master class/clinic, presented by the renowned Veena artist Saraswati Ranganathan, accompanied by V. Sai Raghavan on the mridangam.

Saraswathi Ranganathan is an award-winning practitioner of the ancient south Indian classical instrument, the veena. She founded the world music ensemble Surabhi, touring globally since 2019 across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Mexico. Saraswathi aims to create deeper connection across cultures thru her performances, presentations, and community engagement. She brings with her a legacy of firsts. She is the first Indian woman veena artist to win a Chicago Music Award, and the first veena artist to introduce veena to the theater world as an orchestra member of Disney’s Jungle Book production. Saraswathi is known as the most versatile veena artist and cross-cultural ambassador, who plays with dynamic savagery and dreaminess, enthralling the audience.

V. Sai Raghavan, mridangam artist, has shared stages with the doyens of Indian classical music and has collaborated with world musicians. He is a distinguished soloist as well as a collaborator in diverse genres of music and dance ensembles.

Sponsored by the Liberal Arts & Sciences Department in collaboration with LearnQuest Academy as part of the 2023 LearnQuest Music Conference.
