The 2016 Berklee A. R. Rahman Scholarship
The Berklee A. R. Rahman Scholarship was a special, one-time opportunity offered to entering Indian students for the fall 2016 semester. Three Indian students, one each from Assam, Uttarakhand, and New Delhi, were granted full-tuition scholarships to pursue a full-time degree at the college.
World-renowned film composer A. R. Rahman received an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music in October 2014. At a sold-out concert at Boston's Symphony Hall celebrating his career, 109 students and faculty performed, paying tribute to his distinguished work, with Rahman performing alongside the group for select pieces. In addition to the concert, Rahman conducted a master class at the Berklee Performance Center. He also explored the college’s new, state-of-the-art film scoring studios, where he connected with students in their learning environment. In honor of Rahman’s new relationship with Berklee, the college offered the A. R. Rahman scholarship to help bring students from India to Berklee.
