Madeiran vocalist and composer Sofia Almeida presents her senior recital, featuring original music developed throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies at Berklee College of Music. Her work draws from her Portuguese heritage, a deep connection to Brazilian music, and the global jazz approach. As part of her artistic development, she premiered "Gaia" by Wayne Shorter on the Iberian Peninsula and performed with the Grammy Award–winning Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra. She studied at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute under the mentorship of Danilo Pérez, Patricia Zarate Perez, John Patitucci, and Joe Lovano.
