Laufey Lin (Virtual Concert)
The #BerkleeAnywhere Concert Series features Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee students performing virtually wherever they are around the world. We may be separated by distance, but music empowers us to unite. Wherever you are, we invite you to connect with us every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. EDT on Berklee’s IGTV and Facebook pages.
About the Artist
Laufey Lin is a half Icelandic, half Chinese singer-songwriter and cellist. A recipient of the Presidential Scholarship at Berklee College of Music, she's currently in her fourth semester. Laufey started studying classical piano and cello at the age of 4 and won numerous awards and competitions growing up. She made her solo debut as a cellist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the age of 15. Along with her love of classical music, she developed a passion for singing, taking a special interest in the songs of the Great American Songbook. In 2014, Laufey competed and became a finalist in Iceland’s Got Talent. In 2015, she became a semifinalist on The Voice Iceland as well as the youngest competitor in the series. In recent years, she has started to focus her efforts on songwriting. Her writing style is influenced by the music she listened to growing up, and her goal is to tell modern stories in a timeless fashion. Using social media as a platform, her following has grown to over 50,000. Laufey released her debut single, “Street by Street,” in April, and it has reached over 200,000 streams across platforms. Her EP is set to be released in July 2020.
