Harold Charon is a Cuban pianist, composer, and performer based in Boston. He began his education at age 5, primarily with classical training. At 18, he was selected by Cuba’s National School of Music to perform at the Halifax Jazz Festival in Canada. In 2014, Charon received training from Taylor Eigsti, Chick Correa, and Fred Hersh at the Stanford Jazz Workshop. Since then, he has worked with a variety of bands in Cuba, such as Leo Vera, La Cruzada, Los Clasicos, Janio Abreu and Aire de Concierto, and Ruy López-Nussa y La Academia. In 2018, he attended Berklee’s Five-Week summer program and received a full scholarship to the college. At Berklee, Charon had the opportunity to learn from Billy Childs and perform with Aida Cuevas. He’s currently working at Berklee as an accompanist, which has allowed him to play with Jazzmeia Horn, Shawnn Monteiro, and others.
