The Red Room at Cafe 939 proudly presents Fresh Prospects, a free concert series spotlighting emerging artists. Curated by Berklee students with an ear for talent, this series offers an intimate glimpse into the music scene’s future, featuring local performers making waves and capturing attention.

Matthew Stevens, associate professor in the Ensemble Department, selected the student performers and rehearsed them with Parlato's chosen repertoire in preparation for the concert. The ensemble will perform in the evening.

The Signature Series presents Grammy-nominated vocalist, songwriter, and producer Gretchen Parlato leading the Gretchen Parlato Berklee Ensemble. Matthew Stevens, associate professor, selected the students performing with Parlato and rehearsed them in preparation for the concert. 

Join us for a dynamic roundtable where we will explore the role of Black music in the Black feminist intellectual tradition. The program will allow us to ponder questions such as: what does Black Feminism sound like? How do we hear, listen, and create as Black feminists? How have Black women been creating feminist soundscapes that continue to move us? How does looking at the concept of cool through a Black feminist lens shift our understanding of sound?

This concert will celebrate the music and lives of the late James Reyes and James Russell Smith, professors of composition. Vocal, piano, and chamber music will showcase their expressive and diverse compositional voices.
