Marque Gilmore Presents Science-Friction-Drum-and-Space, Featuring David Gilmore

Marque Gilmore is an internationally acclaimed drummer and producer and a pioneering force in live electronic music, bridging ancient musical traditions with modern technology in what he calls science-friction-drum-and-space. Gilmore is considered the leading creator and pioneer of the sub-genre phenomenon known as live drum ’n’ bass with his interactive music platform and live performance.

Gilmore has helped shape underground music across the UK, US, Europe, and beyond throughout his 40-year career. A founder-member of the infamous NYC-based Black Rock Coalition, Gilmore has worked with and collaborated with iconic artists such as Vernon Reid, Sting, jazz legend Joe Zawinul, and MeShell Ndegeocello. He has a Grammy nomination and a Latin Grammy nomination for his drumming and conceptual-production work with Cuban pianist Omar Sosa. He has also continued to work with some of the UK’s most influential artists and cultural movements, from co-creating the live State of Bengal band with the late Sam Zaman, to anchoring the  "jungle jazz” and South Asian/Asian underground scenes with Talvin Singh, Anokha, Nitin Sawhney, Project 23, Aref Durvesh, Susheela Raman, and so many more.

Beyond performance, Gilmore channels music into social impact. His 2023 compilation album JUNGLIST BREAKS vs. HUMAN MISTAKES, Volume 1 funded a water well construction project deep in Maasai territory, Tanzania. In spring 2025, Beyond Music (a Swiss-based humanitarian arts platform cofounded by Tina Turner), released Gilmore’s international collaborative song, "CONTROL," a socially driven “Afri-lectro-pop” track specifically selected by five-time Grammy–winning artist/activist Angélique Kidjo. 2026 continues with special project releases, as well as the continued development of future-bound arts and cultural initiatives focused on human rights and climate justice with his London-based humanitarian arts organization, the CLF (Chronic Love Foundation), and his label, Tribal Broadcast Recordings.
