Fast and Out XIII explores how to achieve a sophisticated "outside" guitar sound by integrating whole tone, diminished, augmented, and double augmented scales with the circle of fifths/fourths, the Mother Chord, and full chromaticism.
Professor Norm Zocher presents a uniquely guitaristic approach to tonal, polytonal, and atonal improvisation. Participants will receive specific printed examples covering:
The "wrong" whole tone scale: Mastering its use over minor chords.
The diminished gateway: Leveraging the eight blues scales within the diminished scale to unlock polytonal hearing.
Symmetry and extension: Integrating augmented, double augmented, and double pentatonic scales with the double harmonic minor and its modes.
The holy grail of chromaticism: Achieving full chromaticism using the circle of fifths/fourths, the Mother Chord, chromatic triads, fourth voicings, and the "everything sheet."
