Ralph Peterson Jr. Fund
Ralph Peterson Jr., a beloved drummer, educator, composer, and friend to so many, passed away on March 1, 2021, at the age of 58.
Peterson will be remembered for his countless musical triumphs, which include over 150 album credits, working with the likes of Art Blakey, Michael Brecker, Terence Blanchard, and Roy Hargrove, just to name a few. On par with the trademark hard-bop thunder from his kit, though, was the thunder that came from his Berklee College of Music classroom, where he served as a devoted faculty member. In Peterson’s own words, speaking to his students: “My job is to fuel your hunger, create more questions in your mind. And my goal is for you to leave with a sense of empowerment.”
Peterson’s extended family seeks to establish the Ralph Peterson Jr. Scholarship Fund in March, 2021, to support Berklee College of Music students who are financially and academically deserving with the potential to make a significant contribution to society through music.
