Deborah R. Kidd, J.D., LL.M., and M.A., is an entertainment attorney and executive with over two decades of experience as an attorney and over a decade of direct involvement in the music, entertainment, and media industries. Kidd is an associate professor in the music business department at Berklee College of Music, teaching courses on the legal aspects of the music industry, copyrights, and contracts and negotiations. Additionally, she serves as the chief executive officer of PopDaze Entertainment LLC, where she spearheads strategic planning, financial management, and business development initiatives aimed at celebrating and preserving the music and pop culture of past decades.
Kidd's extensive legal career includes founding and leading Kidd Legal LLC, where she provided comprehensive legal services to various artists and businesses in the entertainment industry. Her practice encompassed transactional and litigation matters in music, television, film, and social media, as well as general counsel services for small entertainment businesses. During her tenure at Virago Artist Management and Virago TV, she managed artists and pioneered livestreamed music and entertainment experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kidd holds an M.A. in music business from Berklee College of Music, an LL.M. in entertainment and media law from Southwestern Law School, a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, and a B.S. in business administration from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is a past board member of the Veterans Empowerment Organization and a professional member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. She is also a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force JAG Corps.
