Harshitha Krishnan is a Grammy-nominated recording and performing artist, music educator, and social justice advocate of Indian origin from Lagos, Nigeria.

Hailing from a background in European classical music and growing up listening to Indian film music, she arrived at Berklee and embraced soul, R&B, alternative, jazz, folk, and other world music styles, creating her own distinctive and eclectic sound: a fusion of Indian and contemporary western elements. Performing her original music as well as that of others, Harshitha creates a singular musical experience that takes listeners on a journey of unfiltered emotions, exploring sounds and textures from around the world.

An artist with a vision to affect positive change in attitudes towards women, mental health, and LGBTQIA+ and race issues, Harshitha aligns her social, philosophical, and political views with the nature of the music she performs.

"Having trained in European classical music and built a professional career in performing and writing contemporary Indian and jazz fusion styles, my skill set is wide and I have a more fluid and open-minded approach to learning, teaching, and collaborating. Structure for the sake of compliance doesn't inspire success and so I take a less structured and more customized approach to each student or group of students I teach. I believe all students have the ability to thrive with the right guidance and inspiration, and I encourage rebellion and creative thinking when it comes to solving issues that they run into."
