Jalon Smith, a multifaceted artist, educator, and musician boasts a rich and storied career in music. His lifelong journey in the world of music commenced at the age of six, when he first graced the keys of a piano in his local church.
A distinguished graduate of Bethune-Cookman University, Smith, a dedicated piano and vocal major, honed his skills under the tutelage of the renowned opera tenor Curtis Rayam. He also holds a master's degree from Boston University’s School of Music with a concentration in music education.
Smith’s passion for music extends beyond the classroom. His musical journey has also taken him on tour with many illustrious artists. He has conducted numerous gospel clinics, conferences, and workshops worldwide, sharing his expertise in piano and vocal training. Currently, Smith holds the positions of director of worship & arts at Changing-A-Generation Full Gospel Baptist Church and associate professor in the piano department specializing in multi-keys/multi-genre at Berklee College of Music. His dedication to music education, performance, and composition continues to inspire and shape the world of music.
• Served as the South Fulton County choral coordinator
• Adjudicator for the Fulton County High School Honor Choir
• Toured as musical director for the stage plays Men Cry in the Dark and Maintenance Man
• Toured and performed with musical greats including Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Angie Stone, India Arie, Bishop Paul Morton, Keith Sweat, and Teddy Riley as keyboardist/musical director
• Released an instrumental album titled SouthWesTerminal
• Featured keyboardist on Bri Babineaux’s #1 gospel album Keys To My Heart
• Featured pianist/organist on Bishop Paul S. Morton’s Grammy–nominated albums Best Days Yet (2013) and Legacy (2016)
