The 11th annual Business of Hip-Hop/Urban Music Symposium, presented by the Music Business/Management Department at Berklee College of Music, is a celebration of one of the most influential genres in the music industry.
The event includes a panel discussion with several prominent hip-hop and urban music industry executives: Cynthia “CJ” Johnson, senior vice president of urban promotions at Columbia Records; Yolanda “Yo-Yo” Whitaker, rap artist and founder of YoYo’s School of Hip Hop; Johnnie Walker, former senior vice president of promotion for the Island Def Jam Music Group; and Jivanta Roberts, acclaimed hip-hop dancer, choreographer, and actress.
The panel will be moderated by Tonya Butler, assistant chair of the Music Business/Management Department. There will be a question-and-answer session with students afterward.
