Instrumentalist, composer, and producer Anne Drummond has developed her own uniquely soulful musical language over the course of the last two decades. Originally from Seattle, she made her name there as a youthful and prodigious multi-instrumentalist, before heading to New York and the Manhattan School of Music. It was there that the legendary Kenny Barron fell under her spell and invited her to tour Europe with his band for the album Canta Brasil—a catalyst that propelled her stellar rise. Her early recordings with Barron and Stefon Harris show why—her superb technique, her uniquely creative improvisations, and her sheer musical vision have set the standards for jazz flutists of her generation and beyond.

Drummond’s musical repertoire is broad, encompassing influences as varied as Bach, Ravel, R&B, soul, and hip-hop and it is the demand for her distinctive musical voice, as well as her gorgeously mellifluous tone, that sees her regularly performing and recording with the leading lights of her generation of jazz musicians—Ben Williams, Keyon Harrold, Brandee Younger, Benny Green, and Joey Alexander, to name but a few.

As a composer and leader, Drummond has released two jazz albums, Revolving and Like Water, incorporating both sublime arrangements and compositions of genuine depth and originality. As a mother of young twin girls, she has even found time to produce two albums for the up-and-coming Japanese vocalist Hiromi Suda. Her latest project is her own—writing and co-producing her third record, a transatlantic collaboration that will showcase the cutting edge of American and British talent in hip-hop, house music, and jazz, with Drummond performing on both keyboard and flute.
