In Their Own Words

"I look with myself and each of my students for an innovative approach to teaching and learning music. Every student has a unique music-making sensibility arising from our upbringings in different regions of the world. I firmly believe that each of our cultural origins can be utilized to inspire a vibrant and creative performing environment. In my lessons, I always encourage students to find their own voice as a source of creativity."

"As the first Guzheng student ever accepted by New England Conservatory, then as a faculty at Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Wellesley College now, I sail my new programs in uncharted waters which is often times very challenging. But I am very appreciative of what I have experienced, which allows me to understand the particular thoughts and situations from students who play non-classical instruments. In the twenty first century, we need more young musicians who can thrive in the space between genres."
