Kevin “K-Don” Michael was the director of lab operations in Information Technology Services at Berklee. Kevin started his journey at Berklee in 2001 as a lab monitor in the Professional Writing Division. As the Academic Technology department grew and facilities expanded, he helped with planning, staffing, equipment needs, and student support and services. He was instrumental in helping to develop Lab Operations and was promoted to lab manager and ultimately to director of lab operations.

Kevin's deep connection with music began at a very early age. He could turn anything into music, from tree branches to tables to his body. His love of all music began with imitating Michael Jackson and evolved into an insatiable appetite for all genres, with an added focus on Jamaican music and its history and culture. He was an artist, musician, producer, radio broadcaster, and club DJ beginning in Vermont, eventually expanding to Boston. In Boston, he hosted the Rockers Reggae Radio Program on WERS and held residency at Bill’s Bar for many years.

His creativity knew no limits and was expressed publicly through visual and performing arts, personally in his home, garden, kitchen, and here at Berklee. An incredible conversationalist, Kevin was enthusiastic to share his vast and diverse interest in music, history, genealogy, and documentaries. He was an authentic, humble, and gracious man. A gifted, loving, and generous soul, Kevin cherished his brother and their inseparable bond. His interactions with family, friends, and colleagues delighted us all.
