Award winning vocalist, flutist, composer, and songwriter Elena Pinderhughes joins the Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice for this week's Gathering! Pinderhughes's style seamlessly blends jazz, hip-hop, and R&B influences, reflecting her diverse musical upbringing and open-minded approach to music. Described by The Guardian as the “most exciting and creatively assured jazz flutist to have emerged in years,” Elena has performed in venues and festivals all over the world. She has collaborated witth artists like Common, Herbie Hancock, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott B.M. ’04), Terrace Martin, Hubert Laws, Kenny Barron, Stefon Harris, Lionel Loueke, Terri Lyne Carrington, Josh Groban, esperanza spalding B.M. ’05, Vijay Iyer, Future, and many others.

The Gathering is an ongoing series presented by the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Events are open to the greater Berklee community and public, and feature performances, guest lectures, workshops, and discussions—all with gender and racial equity as a guiding principle.
