The Gathering is an ongoing series presented by the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Events are open to the greater Berklee community and public, and feature performances, guest lectures, workshops, film screenings, and discussions—all with gender and racial equity as a guiding principle.
This week's guest is songwriter Alisa Amador. Praised by NPR’s Bob Boilen as a “powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection,” Amador made history in 2022 with the first-ever Spanish language song to win the prestigious Tiny Desk Contest.
Slipping effortlessly between Spanish and English, Amador’s songs are a fierce work of discovery and affirmation, a profound, revelatory meditation on triumph and loss, endings and beginnings, identity and belonging.
Matt Stevens Ensemble will open up the evening, followed by a short performance and discussion by Amador.
Note: This week's Gathering will be on a Tuesday.
