Wendy has been a practicing board-certified music therapist since 2006, working with adults in memory care, adult day health programs, mental health units, and several other settings. In addition to recently completing her term as president of the New England Region of AMTA (The American Music Therapy Association), she is also a clinical supervisor for both Berklee College of Music (since 2007) and Lesley University (since 2013). In January of 2024, she began a cherished adventure as an assistant professor in the music therapy department at Berklee. Wendy usually practices a resource-oriented approach to music therapy, and enjoys working with participants to enhance and improve the skills and abilities with which they come in the door. This translates to her work with students in the classroom, as she prefers to provide a student-centered approach to learning.

In Their Own Words
I'd like students to come away from my classes with a better sense of themselves as music therapists, and also with an enthusiasm about the work, whatever philosophy they follow.

I am lucky enough in my work to be able to use music in a variety of ways with my participants, but the ways I love the most are using repertoire to connect with people and to help them connect with themselves and their memories, and also in writing songs with them. The class I teach, Recreative and Compositional Methods, helps students learn how to use these methods, so it really is a perfect pairing. I also taught an Intro to Music Therapy class in Spring 2025 and I was able to draw from my past experiences using other methods to teach those students about other aspects of practice, which was a refreshing challenge.
