In Their Own Words

"My teaching continues to evolve from many years of experience in the Middle East and in the United States. My approach is shifting from an emphasis on teaching to a focus on student learning. I try to balance giving knowledge and facilitating understanding, helping and challenging. I strive to create a positive learning environment, and spark enthusiasm for learning. I work hard to establish an atmosphere where students develop trust, camaraderie, and friendship. I want my students to feel that my classroom is a place where they can share their ideas and knowledge. I encourage an open exchange between students and myself. In class, I introduce materials and activities based on individual experiences, readings, videos, and current events. I believe that students learn best through an interactive teaching style that requires their participation and challenges their abilities."

"I hope to inspire my students to have the desire to learn independently. I encourage them to take advantage of resources other than textbooks and to explore the world outside the classroom. I give them individual and group projects that require interaction with each other and the greater Berklee community. Teaching provides me an opportunity for continual learning and growth. My goal is to instill a love of learning in my students as I share my own enthusiasm for learning with them. As my students change, I change. I have found that as I share my passion for teaching and learning with my students, I can successfully connect them to their own."
