This contest encourages Berklee students to write new songs expressing deeply felt convictions about social issues of concern to them.

A LGBTQIA+ singer-songwriter night at Cafe 939 featuring Berklee students presenting their original songs as part of a week-long Pride celebration on campus.

The Songwriting Department at Berklee presents an evening of hip-hop, highlighting the varied styles of this genre through performances from current students. 

This concert features performances by winners of songwriting scholarships.

Yiting Li’s recital features covers, originals, and rearranged songs in pop, rock and R&B styles. 

In conjunction with the Red Room at Cafe 939, the Songwriting Department is proud to present this open mic event for Berklee songwriters, held on the last Monday of each month.

Chinese singer-songwriter Susanna Cai and her producer and engineer Vix Wang, who is also an indie musician, will bring a set of original songs to heat the atmosphere of our David Friend Recital Hall. 

Berklee in the Round (BITR), which occurs on the second Tuesday of every month, is based on the in-the-round performances at the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, seating 4-5 songwriters in a circle who take turns playing songs.
