Berklee Silent Film Orchestra Performs The Man Who Laughs
Described by film critic Leonard Maltin as “nothing short of thrilling,” the Berklee Silent Film Orchestra (BSFO) returns to the FilMusic Festival at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center to perform its new score, commissioned by Universal Pictures, for The Man Who Laughs (1928).
Ninety years after Victor Hugo’s story of human cruelty and the redemptive power of love first captivated global film audiences, The Man Who Laughs (1928) comes to the screen in a new, 4K digital restoration, with an original score by the BSFO.
Universal’s partnership with Berklee is believed to be the first time college student composers and performers have been commissioned by a major Hollywood studio to score a feature film.
