Berklee Silent Film Orchestra Performs The Phantom of the Opera
The Cabot, built in the heart of the silent film era, presents the Berklee Silent Film Orchestra (BSFO) performing its powerhouse score to The Phantom of the Opera (1925). The definitive restoration, by the late David Shepard, provides a clarity and depth not seen from this iconic film in many years.
The BFSO score, featuring a soprano vocalist performing actual parts sung in the film, is a revelation. The 11-piece student orchestra is led, in sequence, by seven conductors, each passing the baton in a spectacle of musical synchrony with the film.
