Becky Bass

Becky Bass, a native of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, is celebrated for her euphoric steel pan playing, soulful voice, and powerful stage presence. Her father, Bill Bass—recognized as one of the best steel pannists in the U.S. Virgin Islands—introduced her to the steel pan at the young age of two. Bass’s love for music deepened through 10 years of classical piano and vocal training, along with numerous musical theatre performances starting at the age of 10 and continuing throughout her high school and college years. 

A two-time New England Urban Music Awards and Motif Rhode Island Music Awards winner, she has performed her signature Caribbean soul music both nationally and internationally at renowned venues such as the Porgy & Bess jazz club in Vienna, Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center, Chicago's Underground Wonder Bar, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., sharing stages with Grammy and Emmy-winning artists including Joshua Bell, Yellowman, and Wyclef Jean. She also was the featured vocalist in a world premiere piece written just for her "incomparable voice" by Daniel Bernard Roumain, performed with the New Jersey Symphony under maestro Xian Zhang.

A graduate of Brown University in theatre arts and performance studies, Bass is also an accomplished actor, appearing in several productions such as Once on This Island, Hairspray, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Little Shop of Horrors, and Rent, as well as serving as associate costume designer for the off-Broadway production of Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole at New York Theatre Workshop. Her screen credits include commercials with AAA, Geico, KFC, and Roche Bros., as well as HBO Max’s Julia, AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself, and Hulu’s Space Oddity directed by Kyra Sedgwick, to name a few.
