Description

Music Therapy Internship 1 provides students with the essential, culminating phase of clinical training within an approved, supervised music therapy setting, designed to meet AMTA standards for professional competency. This course enables students to fulfill part of the 1,000-hour requirement for clinical training, with the opportunity to complete their internship either part-time or full-time and either locally or remotely from the academic institution. Under the continuous supervision of a credentialed music therapist, students will synthesize competencies in client assessment, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation. Regular communication among faculty, supervisors, and students ensures ongoing support and assessment. Completion of this course advances students toward meeting clinical training hours mandated by the American Music Therapy Association.
