Directed Study in Music Education

Course Number
ME-550
Description

This course provides students with the opportunity to design, execute, and create a deliverable from an independent project in music education. Students fill out a proposal form in consultation with the chair. The chair assigns a faculty supervisor to the project. The form is then approved by the faculty supervisor, chair, and dean.

Students work on their directed study projects independently and meet with their faculty supervisor on a regular basis. They also exchange drafts and other materials by email.

All student directed study projects result in a deliverable of some kind. The nature of the deliverable depends on the nature of the project. Examples include but are not limited to: curriculum documents, websites, research papers, position papers, and more.
