Project Management, Communication, and Collaborative Tools for Interactive Media

Course Number
GAIM-479
Description

As an advanced leadership course students will fill the role of Audio Director for collaborative and multi-team member projects within the GAIMS major. As team sizes grow, and project deliverables multiply, Audio Directors must be prepared and proficient not only in the art and craft of music and sound for games, but also in the management and organization systems used within the industry. Issues focusing on client management, team direction and roles, basic SCRUM approaches, contracts, and estimates are holistically revealed and absorbed through lectures and hands-on projects.

Taking the lead on understanding and interpreting project briefs will help the Audio Director to develop solid approaches to each project via items such as an Audio Design Document, code and branch management, asset lists, and timeline. Students will take on the organization and direction of the music and sound team for GAIMS projects, as well as responsibilities as the main liaison between the team and any outside clients located at collaborating institutions.
