Advanced Production Techniques and Control Systems

Course Number
EP-321
Description

Building on concepts and skills developed in EP-225 Control Systems in Electronic Production, this advanced, project-oriented course focuses on modern electronic music production. Students will explore advanced production workflows that integrate MIDI sequencing, synthesis techniques, and audio manipulation while integrating hardware instruments and controllers in a software-based DAW production environment.

Through a series of creative projects focused on original electronic music production, students will apply advanced real-time control, modulation, and automation techniques to their music. Topics will include contemporary production practices used by electronic music producers, expressive control of synthesis parameters, creative audio effects processing, manipulation of musical time and groove, and hybrid hardware/software integration. Emphasis will be placed on technical fluency, creative problem-solving, and developing individual productions that reflect each student’s unique artistic voice.
