Description

The Berklee J-Pop ensemble explores and celebrates contemporary music and culture of Japan in a variety of genres:  J-pop, J-rock, anime music, and city pop. Artists explored include Yellow Magic Orchestra, Fujii Kaze, Hikaru Utada, Maria Takeuchi, YOASOBI, Tokyo Incidents, Casiopea, Ado, Yonezu Kenshi and many more. The class will study past and current pop culture trends and its collaborations with the global music industry. Vocalists in this ensemble will be required to sing in Japanese; proficiency in Japanese is highly recommended.
