Conducting 2
Course Number
COND-212
Description
This course builds on basic conducting technique from COND-211 and covers three new topics and associated techniques used to conduct: first, symphonic conducting with an instrumental soloist (concerto); second, symphonic conducting with a vocal soloist; and finally, symphonic conducting of a major modern work involving frequent meter changes. Works used include a romantic instrumental concerto, an operatic aria, and a mixed-meter piece such as Petrushka, L’Histoire du soldat, or The Rite of Spring.
